Rimouski, July 27, 2023 - The 57th Québec Games Finals resumed on Thursday with the two-person Vegas event at Club de golf Bic in Rimouski. Once again, the competition was fierce to determine the medallists.
For the second day in a row, Kate Guo and Julia Riel (Richelieu-Yamaska) won gold medals in the girls' 13-17 event. The pair, who had won in the “two balls, best ball” format 24 hours earlier, repeated the feat on Thursday, amassing 58 points using the Stableford method.
Wearing the colours of the Rive-Sud region, Léanne Sarrazin and Samuelle Roy took silver in this category with 55 points. Mylee Murillo Beaudoin and Vicky Li, from the Laurentians, completed the podium with 54 points. It was also a second podium finish in as many days for this team, which had won a silver medal on Wednesday.
In the boys' bantam division (13-14 years old), Frédéric Bergeron and Cédrick Hamelin, from the Mauricie region, took top honours with a total of 62 points.
They beat Oscar Ricketts (Québec team) and Ollie Robinson, from Lac-Saint-Louis, who were gold medallists the day before. Lanaudière representatives Alexis Rouleau and Charles Le Siège finished the tournament tied with Ricketts and Robinson, with a total of 61.
Finally, Loïc Marcouiller and Zachary Lauzon, from the Rive-Sud region, triumphed in the juvenile division (15-16 years old), with an aggregate score of 62.
With 61 points, Olivier Laroche and Xavier Bergeron (Capitale-Nationale) took second place on the podium, while a four-way tie was established for bronze.
Kevin Bertrand and Zachary Fedele (Sud-Ouest) cumulated 58 points to tie with David Beaupré and Olivier Champagne (Lower St. Lawrence), Félix Cloutier and Raphaël Janvier (Eastern Townships), as well as Lucas Vincelette and Milan Abrieu (Richelieu-Yamaska).
The golf competition at the 57th Québec Games Finals will conclude on Friday with the individual stroke play.
