Saint-Prime, September 10, 2023 – For the sixth time in the event's history and the fourth consecutive year, the Ottawa region was crowned the overall winner of the Inter-Regional Championship held on Sunday at Golf Saint-Prime sur le Lac.

The team, which included Avery Nordman, Gracelyn Xiao, Zander Zhang, Owen Copp, Lukas Zubec, Landon Van Loon, Mathieu Camerlain, and Félix Perras, closed the event at the top of the leaderboard with a total of 58 points.

Playing in the juvenile category, Camerlain and Perras set the tone by winning their age group competition in the morning's Junior Skills Challenge (tee shots and putts), while the Nordman-Xiao (girls overall) and Zhang-Copp (pee-wee) duos finished second in their respective divisions.

A few hours later, Avery Nordman and Gracelyn Xiao carried on their momentum, this time in the 18-hole 2-player Vegas competition with a Stableford format. Their 56 points in this event placed them second in their category, behind the Montréal-Nord representatives Mylee Murillo Beaudoin and Laurianne Payer (57 points).

The Ottawa team was already well-positioned to add a sixth triumph to its record after those of 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2022, and saw its three boys’ tandems finish among the top-4 in the 2-man Vegas, securing the title at the end of the day.

Buoyed by the 2-player Vegas victories of Murillo Baudoin and Payer, as well as Zack Bourgeois and Isahak Kelechian (pee-wee), the Montréal-Nord region, which also counted on the services of Zackary Vincent (bantam), Alexis Lapierre-Vilandré (bantam), Zachary Benfeito (juvenile), and Dylan Morissette (juvenile), finished second overall with 53 points.

Its traditional rival from Montréal-Sud completed the podium with 51 points, thanks to performances by Zixuan Tan (girls overall), Jade Lecompte (girls overall), Tiago Bastos (pee-wee), Lennox Chaif (pee-wee), Félix Lavoie (bantam), Arnaud Guimond (bantam), Alessandro Fregnito (juvenile), and Léo Duhamel (juvenile).

Tan and Lecompte were the best of the team, winning the Junior Skills Challenge and finishing fourth in 2-man Vegas, while the Bastos-Chaif and Lavoie-Guimond duos finished second in their respective categories.

Several other athletes from one or other of the eight competing regions – Ottawa, Montréal-Nord, Montréal-Sud, Québec City, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Mauricie, Eastern Townships, and Abitibi-Témiscamingue – also made their mark at the tournament.

Pier-Alexandre Gagnon and Edouard Henry, from the Eastern Townships, won the Junior Skills Challenge in the bantam category, while Matty Burns and Alexis Morissette, from Québec City, did the same in the pee-wee category.

Teammates Xavier Bergeron and Olivier Laroche won the juvenile 2-man Vegas. Mauricie golfers Cédrick Hamelin and Frédéric Bergeron topped the bantam 2-man Vegas standings.
